# Checking Object Types

This concept applies for weapons, vehicles, and equipment, but the example below describes it as if you were checking if something is a vehicle.

To determine if an object is a vehicle in Forge, you can use the "Are Same Vehicle Type" node. There is currently no direct node to test if an object is a vehicle, just for checking against *types* of vehicles.

Here's how to do it:

1. Choose the object you want to check.
2. Choose a static reference to an object that you know is not a vehicle, such as the script brain.
3. Connect references to both of these objects to an "Are Same Vehicle Type" node.
4. If the object is not a vehicle, the "Are Same Vehicle Type" output pin will return true. If it is a vehicle, it will return false. Be careful as this can seem backwards.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.thescriptersguild.com/knowledge/scripting/guides-and-info/patterns/patterns-checking-object-types.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
